Why would a loving, all-powerful God allow a world full of suffering? It’s the question skeptics use to challenge Christianity, the question grieving people ask in hospital rooms, and the question many believers carry quietly for years without knowing where to take it.
If God Allows It is an honest, accessible guide to one of the most important challenges facing Christian faith. Working through the logical, evidential, and existential forms of the problem of evil, it equips readers with both the intellectual tools to defend their faith and the pastoral wisdom to help others through their pain.
Drawing on the writings of Augustine, C.S. Lewis, Alvin Plantinga, and John Hick — and grounded throughout in the biblical witness of Job, the Psalms, Lamentations, the cross, and Paul — this book doesn’t pretend the problem is easy. It argues that honest faith, the kind that has wrestled with the hardest questions and come through, is stronger for having done so.
